Comprehensive care from a diverse team of experts

Our Pediatric Severe Asthma Clinic is for children who:

• Are at least 2 years old

• Currently take asthma medication

• Have been hospitalized three or more times in the past year for asthma

Each child who meets those criteria begins at the clinic with an in-depth evaluation of their asthma and their overall health. We look for the factors that could be contributing to persistent, severe asthma flares, and we build a treatment plan to address those needs.

This plan could include:

• physical activity and nutrition to help reduce obesity

• psychological therapy to improve mental health

• treatment from an allergist to prevent allergies from triggering asthma flares

Our team ensures that your child can access all the specialists they need in each visit, so they can receive comprehensive care for their moderate to severe asthma in as few appointments as possible.

Overcoming barriers to health

We also consider if your child needs support from our social workers and case managers to help your family navigate and overcome barriers to improved health, such as insurance coverage and access to cutting-edge medications. Our social workers may also work with your child’s school to ensure they’re educated on your child’s condition, asthma medication and how to care for them while they’re at school.

Empowering lasting changes

We guide families to Children’s Health programs that help them integrate health and lifestyle changes. Our goal is to have a positive impact on every aspect of their health.

The Asthma Management Program focuses on asthma education to help children with high-risk asthma and their families learn about their asthma and how to use the medications and inhalers they’re prescribed.

The Get Up & Go and Food as Medicine programs help to empower families to make lasting healthy lifestyle changes that can help better control asthma and improve quality of life.
