Four siblings with T1D, one care team there for them all
Jessi's first trip to Children’s HealthSM was in an ambulance with her then 13-month-old son, Abdulhadi. That's when she learned he was experiencing a life-threatening complication of type 1 diabetes (T1D) called diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA).

At Children’s Health, you are never alone. The diabetes care team is with you every step of the way. We see children ages 0-18. Our staff is always available by telephone, 24/7/365, to both you and your family and to the Children’s Health Emergency Department, which ensures your child has a place to turn to should significant illness strike.
We will immediately evaluate your child and create a personalized treatment plan. Diabetes educators and the medical staff will provide ongoing education. Our goal is to help you keep blood sugar highs and lows in check when factors like illness, puberty, stress and sleep issues impact your child’s disease. We want you to find the best way to manage life, improve your child’s overall health and decrease the risk of life-altering complications.
Care when you need it; apps and other tools to help take charge of your life
Diabetes doesn’t have a 9-to-5 schedule. That’s why we offer around-the-clock care and provide you with the tools you need to help manage and understand your child’s disease, anytime and anywhere.
The Diabetes Advisor app is an instant connection to resources and advice. It provides care recommendations, includes the latest information on diabetes technology and provides educational materials and resources from Children’s Health. When your child is ill, it allows you to enter some basic information about your child and receive some immediate guidance, as the app will walk you through home care suggestions or advise you to seek medical help if appropriate.
