Biography

Christy Turer, M.D., is a primary care physician at Children’s Health℠ who specializes in primary care weight management and childhood obesity. She is an Associate Professor at UT Southwestern Medical Center.

Dr. Turer earned her medical degree from Johns Hopkins University. She completed a residency in internal medicine and pediatrics at Duke University Medical Center and a research fellowship at Duke/Durham VA Medical Center. Dr. Turer is trained in both pediatrics and internal medicine.

"I went into medicine because I love getting to know patients and caring for people across the lifespan as they navigate the ups and downs of life," Dr. Turer says.

Dr. Turer was inducted into the American Society for Nutrition in 2010, the Dannon Institute® Nutrition Leadership Institute in 2011 and the Society for Pediatric Research in 2014.

Dr. Turer enjoys spending her free time with her husband, four kids, two dogs and five guinea pigs. She also loves spending time outdoors and being active.
